And I’m running to be your State Representative
in the 17th Legislative District.
Please allow me to introduce myself. My mother was a surgical nurse and my father was an Aerospace engineer. A rocket scientist and a pioneer in early space exploration. I was surrounded at a very young age by people who embraced innovation, surrounded themselves in education, worked towards solutions and believed that anything was possible. I believe that to tackle the complex issues that face us today that we have to embrace these same values and approaches that my mother and father lived by. If my father could put a man on the moon, I know that we can solve the problems we face today together.
My parents’ sense of adventure and possibility stayed with me and led me to Hawaii where I spent 22 years and the majority of my early adult life. In Hawaii, I learned the meaning of ALOHA and the value of diversity. I raised my daughter there and embraced the multinational and multiracial culture. As a single parent I worked hard. I became an RN and found my calling in public service. Serving my patients and saving lives.
During those early years. I experienced how hard it was to succeed. I sometimes lived paycheck-to-paycheck, often making those tough decisions between paying rent or bills or buying groceries. It was a struggle putting myself through college, raising my daughter and working full time, but it was possible. I’m not sure that those opportunities exist for young people these days. The rising cost of education, escalating rents, lack of affordable housing are just a few of the things that make today’s young people’s struggles difficult to overcome. We must find a way to make the success that I was able to achieve, achievable for all of our youth today.
Since arriving in Vancouver over 14 years ago, I fell in love with the people of Southwest Washington and their strong sense of community. I’ve had the opportunity to get involved in a number of community organizations, local politics and have worked with many local community leaders and legislators. My most rewarding has been in outreach to communities, within our community that have not had a political voice or a seat at the table. I would like to continue that work and build a district that provides an equitable future and opportunities for All.
I am endorsed by nurses, teachers, first responders… Working People!
I will support a strong economy by investing in our community.
Times are challenging for folks in the 17th Legislative District and across our state. As a 25-year ICU nurse and working person, I understand the challenges that working families face today.
My priorities include affordable housing, healthcare and childcare, championing new infrastructure and broadband, supporting and fully funding public safety and strengthening education.
Recognizing the paramount importance of public safety, I will stand by our law enforcement professionals, ensuring they have the necessary resources to fulfill their duties effectively.
I will work to assure that Southwest Washington thrives and prospers, and our future is bright. Now is the time for solutions!
Lets work TOGETHER to:
